The Venue

Komoro Distillery

At the slopes of imposing Mount Asama, the Komoro Distillery, the first distillery under Karuizawa Distillers Inc. (KDI) is built.

Located on the undulating base of the mountain, on the edge of lush forest-land. This place is exactly what the founder & CEO of KDI, Koji Shimaoka, was looking for and where the co-founder & Master Blender, Ian Chang, commits to producing the best quality single malt whisky.

Crystal clear and pure water flows from the mountain, through the forest, to Komoro Distillery and the surrounding area. Add the cool but humid climate, KDI have the best possible conditions for producing world-class single malt whisky and will bring a breath of fresh air into Japanese whisky.
